Matt mentioned to me that he found it interesting that my 25 project defines people by their job at an age when almost no one defines themselves by their job. It’s totally true, though I admit I hadn’t thought of it that way until he mentioned it. At the time I started this project I had just been laid off from my dream job. Work was the only part of my life that wasn’t going phenomenally well but being unemployed or in a job you loath can completely consume you no matter how well everything else is going. Whether my project was born of defining myself by my job or from attempting to prove to myself that it didn’t I can’t really say. It has however turned into something wonderful. Talking to people, hearing the stories they have about their lives at an age when everything was constantly shifting for them has been fascinating.
